Your Role

We are seeking a native English speaker to teach a group of 15 underprivileged young women for 3 hours per week. You will raise their level of English speaking and listening (from A2 to B1+) and help them become acquainted with some general knowledge subjects like the basics of marketing, economics, administration and health issues – all relating to the hospitality industry. About you: You are an innovative and enthusiastic person who has current experience in adult education and can demonstrated an ability to both adapt course materials and deliver engaging lessons. You have demonstrated an ability to provide support and advice to students of diverse cultures, backgrounds and abilities.  Effective communication and interpersonal skills relevant to a learning environment are essential, along with the ability to quickly develop rapport. Experience in the preparation (adaptation) of programs and learning materials and an ability to use a wide range of learning and assessment tools are important in this role. An added benefit would be that you have recent and relevant experience within the Culinary Arts and Hospitality industries.

Our trainees are young women who have been through the Compassion program during their school years and have completed high school. They are members of a 6 month ‘The Great Escape’ training program, working part time (3 or 4 days) as an intern and attending lessons (2 days). Completing the training will enable them to find a job in the hospitality industry (restaurant or a hotel). To enter the course, they will undergo an intake procedure, which will determine their ability to ‘present’ themselves and their level of English (entry level should be A2-B1) and arithmetic. The training course will start in the last week of May with an introduction week and run until mid December. The classes are on Wednesday from 8 am till 1 pm every week (4 lessons of 45 minutes).
